How did we get here?
The short answer is that God made us! The one, true God created everything that exists. This is the God of the Bible.
We humans are God's special creation. We were created to be in a loving, trusting relationship with him. We were created to live our lives inside his good boundaries. But something went terribly wrong a long time ago. We stepped outside God's boundaries for our lives. Sin, as it's called, infects all of our lives because each one of us continues that rebellion against God's good plan for us.
Who are we?
Where does Jesus fit into this?
The answer to our greatest problem—a broken relationship with God because of our sin—is Jesus! Jesus, who is God himself, came to earth and died in our place on the cross. He took the penalty for sin (death) that we deserved. Three days later, he rose up from the dead just like he said he would. Today, he rules over his creation as the victorious king!
What should we do now?
With all this good news (Gospel), there is only one correct response. The Bible says that we must repent and believe in Jesus. "Repent" means to turn away from the lifestyle of being our own little god and recognize that Jesus is the true Lord. "Believe" is more than just acknowledging something as true. It means to place an active trust in Jesus. To put it another way, we must place our confidence in Jesus's death and resurrection on our behalf, and we must follow him for the rest of our lives. When we do this, he forgives our sins, gives us eternal life, restores our relationship with God, and sets us on a new path in life. Are you ready to take the step?
